Ryan Reynolds Says Goodbye To The ‘Deadpool 2’ Cast And Crew With Emotional Instagram Post

In the wake of Fox Studio’s wildly successful Deadpool which has now made over $780,000,000 worldwide, production on Deadpool 2 recently wrapped up. Ryan Reynolds recently took to his Instagram account to write an emotional farewell to the cast and crew.

This production has been an emotional rollercoaster for Fox Studios after stunt double Joi Harris died after a stunt gone wrong sent her and her motorcycle plummeting into a wall of glass. The accident halted production briefly so a team could investigate the health and safety procedures on set.

Reynolds paid an emotional tribute to the stunt driver on his Instagram account as well. The cast wrapped up production and the film is set to be released sometime in 2018.

Ryan Reynolds posted a picture of him in his Deadpool costume, posing next to Director David Leach on set next to a cab. The picture shows the final set of the last day of shooting.

In his post, Reynold’s thanked the director and even takes the time to thank the Production Assistants for their tireless work on set, noting they are often the first and last to leave. He also thanked everyone involved, and even cracks a joke about Josh Brolin at the end of the post.

Returning to the cast is Reynolds himself who played Deadpool, along with Morena Baccarin in her role as Vanessa, Breanna Miller as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and T.J. Miller is rumored to return as his character Weasel.

Deadpool 2 is a significant Directorial opportunity for David Leitch, who has been working as a Stunt Co-Ordinator for years in Hollywood. He directed the Deadpool: No Good Deed short that quickly went viral online, which inspired Fox to launch production on Deadpool. Leitch’s direction will no doubt lead to future projects for the former Stunt Co-Ordinator.

The on-set accident that happened earlier this year at the start of production for Deadpool 2 claimed the life of Joi Harris, age 40. The stunt was not supposed to falter. At the time, Harris was driving without a helmet, when she lost control of the bike, hit a curb, and was plunged forward into Vancouver’s Shaw Tower.

Harris was pronounced dead on the scene. An investigative team concluded that Harris neglected to stop the motorbike at the designated coordinates while rehearsing the stunt for the scene before she was catapulted from her bike and sent into a large pane of glass.

Ryan Reynold’s released a statement of grievance and mourning for the deceased stunt double on his Twitter account, noting what a tragic loss it had been.

Deadpool 2 is scheduled to be released on June 1st, 2018 in Theatres across North America.
